Grant's Kindergarten "Celebration"

On September 28, 2011, Grant had his first kindergarten Celebration program. The purpose of the celebration was to complete the study they had been doing for the first quarter on how people are unique and the same. The two kindergarten classes spent the quarter learning a few songs, learning about themselves and learning about their classmates. They worked very hard and practiced for several days to get the Celebration program ready to share with us. It was the most adorable thing I have seen. I have some of the program on the video camera but it died so a few of the songs were recorded on my regular camera. You can see those videos here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jq5HXIV6BRQ; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DboVZK-BtfA; http://youtu.be/1GAfxW54wdU; http://youtu.be/RC5Q8XJsuXA

"I can wash the dishes"

After some of the songs, we went into his classroom and looked at his little display of artwork and writing that he worked on during the quarter.

(Grant's self-portrait of himself as a knight)

(Grant's book of pictures of him drawn by each of his classmates)

(Grant's drawing of himself riding his bike)

(Grant's artwork of himself helping to wash the dishes - his "I can" statement)

(The contents of Grant's jar of unique things about him - love of bugs (bug), pet turtle (toy turtle), loves baseball (baseball picture), great at puzzles (puzzle piece), loves to color (crayon), loves apples (apple seed), loves to climb trees (leaf), thumbprint)

(Grant's heart that he gave to his dad - during the performance the children came down from the stage and gave their hearts to someone who came with them)

After the celebration, we all enjoyed milk and cookies. We were so proud of our Granty. He was up their singing his little heart out and was proud of himself. He loved showing up all of the things he worked on during the quarter and was so excited to do the performing for us. It was great.
