February was a fun month. We had lots of snow, including snow days, hot chocolate and sledding. Grant had hockey pictures. We experimented with fried won tons. Grant has developed into a great story reader to his brothers.
Valentine's Day brought homemade valentine's for Grant and Cole's classes (hand cut hearts with a glow stick through the center like an arrow and a message, "You make my heart glow.") Grant cut and wrote all of his Valentines for his class. Cole wrote his name on all of the Valentines for his class. Grandma Mellen sent a treat box, which included a dancing zebra that Cole immediately fell in love with and took full possession of. The poor zebra didn't last long though. It danced it's way off the bathroom counter into the toilet while Cole was going to the bathroom. Then it became a playmate for Sooner in the snow. He was a fun friend while he lasted.
We helped clean the church. We attended Cultural Night at Grant's school, where we sampled food from numerous countries and learned to make pasta. We got our GeoTrax up and running, including the acquisition of a whole new set of track.
For President's Day weekend, we went to Phoenix after hockey practice on Saturday and stayed until Tuesday. We went to the zoo on Saturday and Monday, exploring parts we never have a chance to see. We finally visited the petting zoo and children's area and fed the sting rays. The boys loved the prairie dogs. We made a point of visiting the mountain lion, as Grant spent much of February working on a mountain lion report for school. Sunday we went to church with David and Melissa. We overslept but managed to get everyone out the door in 10 minutes and still beat David to church. Chad and I were also able to attend the temple for the first time in a very, very long time.
No trip to Phoenix would be complete without a visit to In-N-Out. President's Day weekend also brought us our first trip to the urgent care. Grant and Cole got a little too rowdy on Oma's couch. Cole got tired of Grant and pushed him as hard as could off of the couch with his feet. Grant's eyebrow met the edge of Oma's coffee table and we were off to urgent care. Luckily, Grant only needed some glue and steri strips. We were in and out in 45 minutes but it wasn't fast enough for Chad and Grant to make it to the Coyotes game to get tickets. Dad and son were very bummed about missing the game so they consoled themselves with Waffle House. Thankfully, Oma watched Cole and Tyler while we made the trip. He had to miss one hockey practice but other than that the injury didn't even slow Grant down.
Cole's preschool had a field trip to Summit Gymnastics where the kids were able to do the floor obstacle course, jump off the trampoline into the foam pit and pull each other around on the wheelie boards. Tyler had as much fun as the preschoolers.

Sadly, February also brought the sudden passing of my cousin Peter. He will be missed. His funeral was an amazing tribute to a great guy, who loved and helped everyone he met. I was able to see family I hadn't seen in ages.
Cole did another session of Pee Wee Basketball. Despite how challenging the basketball skills are he has a great time running around playing Sharks and Minnows and Freeze Tag. He definitely gets a workout.
The boys and I took our first trip to Prescott since moving over a year ago. We went for cleaning appointments, however upon arrival we realized that the appointments were actually for March 6 and not February 6. Luckily, they squeezed us in. We were able to visit Skyview so Grant could see Miss Sonya. We also saw Laura and her kids and the Henries. It was a fun trip to see old friends.
