Cute pics of the boys in August 2011

These are my superheros. They really are superhero boys. They have so much fun together. They take such good care of their mom and their little brother. They say the funniest things to us and each other. I love to listen them talk to and play with each other.

Here are my big boys resting on the floor. Guess which one is actually asleep? Thing 2 and Thing 3 love to snuggle, wrestle and mess with Thing 1 whenever they can.
Oh, my cute little boys.

I have taken Cole with me to several brunches and lunches at Wildflower Cafe with my friends and their kids. He and Reid Henrie make a bee-line for the bakery case and, specifically, the cupcakes every time we enter the restaurant. It's pointless to even try and buy him anything to eat but the cupcake. He loves to lick the frosting and the sprinkles but never eats the cake. It's a huge waste of $3, except that I love to see this messy face so happy from such a delicious treat. For this particular cupcake, Cole insisted upon carrying the plate with the cupcake on it from the counter, out the door to the patio table where we wanted to eat. That poor cupcake hit the ground three times before it made it to our table. Most of the sprinkles were gone and every time it hit the ground, Cole looked so upset and frustrated but he wouldn't give up. I kept trying to carry it for him but he would not give up. I hope that level of persistence continues in him into the future.
I took this picture for Kitty, who requested a picture of the boys one morning. I took it in the parking lot before walking Grant into school. Poor Cole is crying in this picture because he hit his head on the car door. This is a frequent occurrence for this poor little boy. He is on the clumsy side (like his mom, sadly) and a bit spacey (also like his mom sadly). He used to just have near misses with the door but in the last few months has grown so that he doesn't just slide under the door. His poor head hits the corner. He is also known for multiple self-inflicted falls, trips and slips throughout each day.
Cole loves to do whatever Grant does. He has seen Grant request many pictures with Tyler and took this opportunity to do the same.
I think this post turned into a mini-tribute to Cole. He is such a cute little boy. He is growing up so fast. He is so sweet and tender hearted. He tries so hard to be "big" but is still so "little" in so many ways. He is my cuddly, sweet talking middle child, who I hope never changes.

Cole's first dental visit - August 24, 2011

Cole went to the dentist for his first teeth cleaning on August 2, 2011. He was so excited for this. He kept telling Grant and Chad that he was getting his teeth cleaned. I scheduled Grant and Cole at the same time. Chad went in with Grant and I supervised Cole. Cole started crying when they took Grant back first, while I finished filling out Cole's paperwork. Once I made him realize he was getting to have a turn too, he calmed down.
Cole was a champ. He wore the glasses, loved exploring the instruments and did his very best to keep his mouth open. He loved the suction but had a hard time with the coordination of opening and closing to make it work. He only bit the hygienest a couple of times while she was flossing his teeth.
After his cleaning, he hopped in Grant's chair and opened wide for Dr. Bowman. Both boys had stellar teeth - no cavities. Even with all my nights of letting them brush by themselves, their teeth are still relatively healthy.

Fun Monday Family Home Evening - August 22, 2011

We had a fun family home evening this past Monday. We picked up McDonald's for dinner then went to the Abia Judd park for a picnic. We brought Grant's bike with us to work on teaching him how to ride a two-wheeler. The boys enjoyed their Happy Meals, including their Smurf toys. Tyler hung out on a blanket in the middle of us all and watched with envy as we enjoyed our greasy, fattening dinners.
Grant made some good progress on learning to ride a two-wheeler. I worked with him a bit then Chad took a turn. He gave up a lot sooner than we would have liked but he is close. He would have figured it out if he would have kept peddling.

Tyler took a try and learning to ride a bike too. He has further to go than Grant.

The boys also had a great time playing on the playground equipment and running races on the grace field. They were both beyond sweaty and sandy when we finally headed home.

Our weekend at Oma's - August 13, 2011

We had a fun overnight at Oma's from August 12-13, 2011. We left for Gilbert at 9 PM on Friday because Chad was working nights. We arrived at Oma's about 11:30 PM. In the morning, Chad and I were able to go to the temple while Oma, David, Melissa and Shelli watched the boys. It's sad that it takes that many people to do the job I do everyday.
Before Chad and I left for the temple, Tyler had a serious blowout. When I went to change it I didn't know what I was getting into. Tyler had it all up his back and ended up with it on his legs and feet. Oma came to the rescue (sort of) and in an attempt to limit the spread of the yuck, Oma literally had Tyler hanging by his ankles with no clothes on. We were both laughing hysterically, while trying to figure out how to get out of this mess. Surprisingly, Tyler was not screaming. Once we regained our composure and our senses, Tyler headed straight upstairs with Oma for a quick back, while I cleaned up the changing pad and other inanimate casualties.
To add to the excitement of bodily fluids, later that day Cole had to go to the bathroom. I was sitting on the couch by the bathroom. I pointed to the bathroom and told Cole to go potty over there. He walked over to the tile that leads into the bathroom pulled down his pants and started peeing on the tile. He apparently thought I meant to pee on the tile rather than in the toilet that was just a few steps away. I still can't figure out why he would think that, as I have never allowed him to pee inside anywhere except the toilet but just add it to the list of times I can't figure out what is going through his head.
When we got back from the temple we all headed to the pool to try to cool off. Sadly, the water felt more like bathwater than a refreshing dip but we still had fun. Over the last several months, Grant's swimming skills have really taken off. He was swimming all by himself all over the pool. Cole preferred hanging on the steps and Tyler loved just floating in someone's arms. Oma had water guns and splashballs for all of us to play with and grapes for us to snack on while we swam.

After we finished swimming we enjoyed delicious brisket for dinner. Oma promised Grant a return trip to the pool after dinner and she kept her word. We all thought Grant wouldn't last more than about 30 minutes on round two but we were proved wrong. Grant made some new friends at the pool and stayed for almost two hours. He was jumping, climbing, swimming and playing in the pool with these new kids.
After two trips to the pool, he was so exhausted it didn't take five minutes in the car to see David's new house before Grant was so asleep it took several shakes to wake him.
We had a great time on this little overnighter. It's always relaxing to visit Oma because I get a vacation from childcare.

Cute boys in the bath tub

These boys love to take baths. They love to play and yell and get everything as wet as possible. Then they love to wrap up in their warm robes when they're done and run around in those until they are forced to put on underwear and clothes and go to bed.
These pictures are from the first bath that all three boys took together. Grant and Cole thought it was so fun to have Tyler in the bath with them. Tyler loved it too. I had to take him out once the water got too full and the bathtub started to float. It kind of became a drowning risk. Until then though all three had a great job.

Cole starts Itty-Bitty Sports Class

Cole started Itty-Bitty Sports Class at the Y on August 9. Grant did these classes for a year. This session includes soccer, kickball and basketball. Now it's Cole's turn. However, Cole isn't as in love with this class as Grant was. We have yet to make it through an entire class. He has told me he doesn't like soccer. He just wants to kick the ball really hard. He gets frustrated when he has to dribble it softly or play Red Light, Green Light. Maybe kickball will be more popular with him.

Tyler's Third Month

Our little Tyler is growing up fast. He turned 3 months old on August 4. He's so much more alert and developing an adorable little personality. He still doesn't sleep very well but we're all just praying he grows out of that.

Cute pics of the boys in July 2011

Grant loves to have his picture taken with Tyler and asks for them all of the time.Aunt Alisha sent the boys these cute robes that no longer fit her kids. Cole and Grant love to wear them after the baths. Cole even likes to sleep in his.
The last weekend of July, Chad and Sean Henrie took the deacons (all 14 of them) on a four day backpacking trip in Utah. That left me and Melissa home alone with our kids. On Friday evening, we went over to the Henrie's for pizza and fun. We stayed at their house for over four hours. Grant played video games endlessly with Mason. Ava loved playing Tyler. Cole and Reid went back and forth between playing and watching Rango.
On July 27, 2011, the Siebers came to visit. On the day that Steve and the kids went to Sedona, Alisha stayed with me. I showed her around downtown while Grant was at school. For a family home evening one Monday night, we took the boys to a movie and then for ice cream at Baskin Robbins afterwards. The boys love to pose for pictures together.
